I love the beginning of a new year – it reminds me of that feeling at the beginning of a new school year when you start off with fresh pencils and write neatly in new notebooks. It’s a chance to take a new path, start fresh, do things differently, make changes, both big and small. It gives you hope.
A new path – (hiking at Hilton Falls)
A recent post on Gretchen Rubin’s insightful blog, The Happiness Project, states that even one little resolution or change like making your bed can have a positive effect on your well-being and overall level of happiness. She recently published a book of the same name which chronicles changes she made in her own life over the course of a year to allow for more happiness. For each month, she tackled one aspect of her life such as fun, love, energy, spirit and order. The results were life-changing. I think for me, I will tackle order in January. You know – those drawers, files, closets, basement that need tidying, sorting, organizing. Overall though, I vow to have more fun and continue to create beautiful rooms. (Oh, and get back to the gym.)
What do you think?
