Happy Sunday! Hope you enjoyed some R&R today. I know I did and it’s so good for the soul, isn’t it?
Speaking of relaxation and things that are good for the soul, people have been enjoying steam therapy for thousands of years. And it’s very simple to turn your bathroom into a spa by creating a steam shower. You don’t have to undergo a renovation although that’s an ideal time to plan – it can be added to an existing shower. (You don’t need to travel to a spa although that’s always a good idea and one of my favourite things to do.)
I had no idea until learning all about steam from our BlogTour Vegas sponsor, Mr. Steam, Feel Good Inc. Mr. Steam provides the finest quality steam showers and towel warmers for residential and commercial use.
I had heard so much about “Mrs. Steam”, the face behind Mr. Steam, their VP Martha Orellana. And so it was a pleasure to meet her at various times throughout BlogTour. What a warm, genuine person she is – just loved her!

Want to know why Martha is so happy and why her skin is glowing in the photo above? Because she is a steam therapy advocate and knows all about the benefits of steam showers firsthand. Steam showers:
-
relieve stress
-
encourage relaxation
-
promote deep restful sleep
-
increase blood circulation
-
remove toxins from the body
-
boost metabolism
-
improve breathing
-
hydrate dry skin
-
leave skin with a healthy glow
-
and you can burn calories too!
And there are a whole list of other benefits which you can read here.

It is very simple to set up a steam shower in your home. You need a fully enclosed shower with a minimum size of 3’ x 3’ x 7’. A generator (starting about the size of a briefcase) heats the water and fits neatly inside a closet, under a bench or in a vanity. They can be positioned up to 60 feet from the steam shower enclosure itself, even on another floor. Steam, heated to 110 relaxing degrees, enters the shower enclosure through steam heads. You sit and take in the steam for 10-20 minutes.
You can read more about requirements here.
You also need a control like the iSteam which is a revolutionary, award-winning steam room LCD touch screen panel that is as easy to use as a smart phone. The intuitive screen responds to a simple touch or swipe, controlling temperature, duration, AromaTherapy, ChromaTherapy (mood lighting), and MusicTherapy for a full sensory experience.
The high tech iSteam screen has a special coating so it can perform in wet conditions (yes, it can get wet – that just boggles my mind!) Its slim profile is almost flush with the shower wall. There is an optional Bluetooth audio streaming system and 4 in-shower speakers allowing for a personal steam experience with optimal sound. Sounds like heaven, right?
Read more about steam therapy on their blog here. I especially enjoyed the post “Resolve to get Steamy in 2014.”
Do you have a steam shower? Is this something you would consider? Would love to hear your thoughts. I would love to add this to my own shower.
Have a great week!

March 31, 2014I had never even heard of steam showers before we started looking for houses in Calgary – most of the new homes there have them. The house we ended up with does not have one, but I really want to add it! I’ll definitely blog about it if I do… 🙂
