Hi there,
I had the great pleasure of attending KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) in Orlando as part of BlogTour a few weeks ago. If you recall, I also attended in 2014. If you’re a designer, KBIS is where you can see, touch and feel what’s new in the world of kitchens and baths. And next year, it’s in Orlando again…in January…when it’s freezing here. 🙂
One of the brands sponsoring the tour was Mohawk Flooring. You may associate the name Mohawk solely with carpet, but during the last few years they have become a world leader in flooring including carpet, tile, hardwood, laminate and vinyl flooring. I didn’t realize that the Karastan brand falls under the Mohawk umbrella. My beautiful grey wool carpet in my former bedroom below is from Karastan and I have been a fan of the brand for years.
- Mohawk just introduced their SmartStrand Silk Reserve carpet with “astonishing softness, maximum durability and easy maintenance.” We had the opportunity to touch and feel the evolution of the softness of carpets over the past 12 years – what a big difference from 2005 to now. You can read about the durability here and watch a video here.
And then, to experience the softness on another level, Mohawk transformed a room in the Ritz Carlton (yes, the same Ritz I had the pleasure of staying at last May) into a spa for their Barefoot and Bellinis event. So much fun!
We are barefoot with bellinis in hand:
And then of course we had to actually attest to the softness by lying down on the carpet. (Yes, it is extremely soft.) Miss these lovely ladies!
2) They also introduced new colours of their SolidTech luxury vinyl. On display was a sink that runneth over onto the vinyl floor. You know that saying, it’s not “if your basement will be flooded but when?” This waterproof flooring would be perfect for a basement and it’s pet friendly – even Doug the Pug approves! (If you don’t know who that is, just google. 🙂 )
And look at the gorgeous new styles/colours. I see a few I would love for my basement renovation down the road. (Note: I don’t believe these new styles are on their site yet.) You are very welcome!

Thank you Mohawk for hosting us at your booth and the event. And thank you Modenus for inviting me on my second KBIS BlogTour. Stay tuned for more posts this week!
