Over the summer, I worked with some lovely clients to renovate their bathroom. I had blogged about it here. This is what it looked like before:
This is the design I came up with and the clients loved. Subway tiles, marble hexagon floor tiles and chrome fixtures – classic and timeless.
We veered from the design plan above slightly, e.g. the Ikea vanity didn’t work and to ship the wood mirror to Canada would have been costly.
And here’s how it looks now but it hasn’t been styled pretty and professionally photographed yet. Hence, it’s the “Almost After.” They are placing black and white photographs over the toilet. The shower curtain is the West Elm one above and needs to be hung with a new chrome rod. Other than that, it’s a wrap!
The wall sconces from Restoration Hardware were a splurge but my clients really loved them, so they were a must. The wall colour is Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray – one of my “go to” colours (although it has a purple hue in the photos, it really is a lovely gray.)
I custom designed the vanity so that it would be the perfect width and depth for the space. The airy design makes the small space feel larger. The counter is a pure white quartz and the baskets are also from West Elm.
I must say I love this bathroom and if I were to redo my own ensuite, this is exactly what I would do! Once I get professional photos done, I will share. I’m sure it will look way more prettier than my photos!

October 13, 2011Great job Vanessa! Love the white + grey with natural wood color palette… Serene and spa like… Exactly what one needs in an ensuite. Love you choice for the floor and nice deep soaker tub.
I saw a similar vanity with marble top at PB a while back and now I need to know where you have this custom made! Love it! It may well be what my client at the builders dream is looking for!
Cant wait to see the final “after” room!

October 13, 2011Wonderful update, Vanessa. I really like the ‘furniture” look vanity . The flooring is really interesting, but I can’t tell from the pic what it is?

October 13, 2011What a beautiful transformation! I love everything about it. Just beautiful.
May I ask where you got the shower curtain?

October 13, 2011Thanks for all your lovely comments!
Jane – the marble hexagon floor tiles were purchased at a local tile store. I’m sure you can find something similar where you are on the east coast.
Tim – I actually used the PB vanity as inspiration – I love that vanity. I had it made at a local shop. I’ll email the info to you.
Maureen – it is a marble hexagon tile. I will revise the post to show a more detailed photo – thanks for letting me know.
Marlo – the shower curtain in the inspiration board is from West Elm and I think the one they currently have in the photo is from West Elm too.

February 23, 2014I am about to redo my bathroom in the same look…white subway tiles, gray vanity, marble counters and floors. I was wondering where you got the mirror and if it is a medicine cabinet. I have been looking and only found one that was over $1,000. Great job and thanks for sharing!

February 26, 2014Hi there! The mirror was bought at a local store (I live in Milton, ON) for around $200. And no, it’s not a medicine cabinet.$1000 sounds excessive! Thanks!
