Hi there,
{First of all, if you are new here, welcome! I’m so glad you stopped by. I’m a decorator living in a suburb of Toronto, Canada with my husband and almost teenage daughter. Please feel free to browse around and click on my Portfolio to see some other before and afters.}
We made it to the finish line! Congrats to the other 19 bloggers doing the One Room Challenge with me as well as the 130+ linking participants. Before I get to the reason you are here – the photos – a few thank yous. Thanks to Linda at Calling it Home who conceived the One Room Challenge and nurtured it like a baby so that it could grow into the phenomenon it is today. Thanks to the sponsors who I will link to at the end and thanks to all of you for cheering me on and leaving lovely comments. If you want to catch up on the previous five posts, go here.
An overview of my daughter’s happy, art-filled bathroom. (There’s a pin it button on the top right corner of each photo, so feel free to pin away!)
The happy geometric floral wallpaper (Schumacher’s Agadir Screen in Noir) from DecoratorsBest was the starting point for the black and white scheme. But I added in soft green and blush pink so it wouldn’t look and feel so stark.
Here’s a before shot so you can see how far the bathroom has come. It was standard issue builder’s fare – nondescript, basic and severely lacking any style:
The full length shower curtain in a very heavy luxe linen is from Loom Decor. It’s like the party dress in the space. All of the art is from Minted. It’s hard to see but the photograph below is of the Eiffel Tower surrounded by flowers. I have had the little guy (turtle) on the floor for some time and didn’t know where to put him until now!
I have always loved round mirrors in bathrooms and this simple one from Wayfair works well with the sconces and the wallpaper.
A Before photo:
And the After:
I was going to hang up a cool photo of Beyonce (my daughter’s favourite) but then I thought, why not have a professional photo taken of her and hang that (below.) Photo by Leah Kirin. Other art by Minted.
A close up of the wall sconces from Schoolhouse Electric:
Now let’s have a close look at the matte black faucet from Brizo. It is the Odin which has “a clean, Scandinavian design” and “the next generation of Brizo’s revolutionary SmartTouch® Technology. SmartTouchPlus™ adds proximity sensing to our existing touch technology, allowing for both hands-free and touch-sensitive operation.”
We addressed storage in the bathroom as well. Remember, under the sink was the place where dolls went to die? (oooh, that sounds morbid.) My cabinetmaker built a pull out drawer to house her toiletries etc. (I think she has more than me!)
And her drawers were always a cluttered mess. (PS I upgraded the number of drawers from two to five with the builder and so glad I did.) I bought acrylic trays for most of her drawers to help keep her organized. This one from CB2 is for her hair bands.
Love peonies and these are from my favourite florist, Fiori Oakville. The matte black accessories are from CB2.
Why not style the toilet tank? 🙂 The succulents are from Fiori Oakville as well and they will hopefully last years beyond the photo shoot!
My daughter absolutely loves her bathroom as do I. It’s at the top of our staircase and every time I pass by, I can’t help but smile. It really makes us decor happy!
All After photos were taken by Stephani Buchman. I just love working with her and she captured this bathroom perfectly.
A big thank you to my ORC Sponsors for providing key elements of the bathroom design. Without your partnership, this would have been the little bathroom that could!:
Faucet: Brizo | Wall sconces: Schoolhouse Electric | Art: Minted |Shower curtain: Loom Decor
Mirror: Wayfair | Wallpaper: Decorator’s Best | Flowers and greenery: Fiori Oakville

November 7, 2017I loved your daughters bathroom. I’m currently in the process of remodeling my bathroom and I am incorporating your wallpaper. Ok, basically I’m modeling my bathroom after yours. I’m using a different floor tile and sconces and gold round mirrors. The only reason I’m not using your sconces is because I already ordered different ones before I saw this site.
