The tree is finally decorated! And it looks pretty much how it did last year as I didn’t purchase any new ornaments. I kind of have enough already! Still going with the pink, gold, cream, bronze, silver theme. Well, there’s some blue, green and red in there too!
My pink collection started pre-hubby so I’m guessing this box of ornaments is around17 years old – amazing I haven’t broken one in all these years and about 6 moves!
But they’re not as old as the ornaments below (top left corner). My hubby gave the ornament inscribed Grandma and Grandpa to his grandparents when he was a kid and we are lucky to have some ornaments that adorned their tree 40-50 years ago!
And what’s a tree without some handmade ornaments made by your children over the years?
Now the only thing left to do is buy some presents to put under the tree! I’m a little behind this year but I don’t have a lot to buy (famous last words) as we have really pared down the gift buying for family members.
Is your Christmas tree up? How is your shopping coming along?
I’m linking up here.

December 14, 2011Looks so lovely Vanessa!
We decided on a baby tree this year. It’s sitting on a table in the corner of the living room and it… naked!! It’s been there for 2 days now and I haven’t even put the lights on!! Bad me 😉 I did make what I think is an absolutely fabulous wreath for over the fireplace, and the mantle itself is decorated SO I’m not all that lazy 😉
As for prezzies… with grown kids (21-24), we’re definitely cutting down on the gift giving. One gift each and their stockings. Sure makes things easy!! My biggest kid/hubby… now THERE’s a problem! What to buy?!

December 14, 2011Vanessa,
I found your post at Beth’s Christmas mantel party. I have to ask about the string ornament in the “cream” section. I love it…did you or the kids make it? Would you know how I could make one as well? Thanks!

December 15, 2011Beth,I bought those string ornaments at Canadian Tire last year – Debbie Travis collection. Not sure where you are located. If you scroll below to the one’s my daughter made, you can see one similar. She made it at school so I’m not sure how she did it. There is nothing inside other than what looks like sparkly glue that has dried. Martha had these instructions: http://www.marthastewart.com/266201/snowy-balloon-ornaments
Hope that helps and thanks for commenting!
