Hi there,
The countdown to Christmas is on! Because of a photo shoot at my house last week, I just recently started decorating and we picked out our real tree just yesterday. As I mentioned in my last post, Lowe’s invited me to be one of their #LowesHolidayHomes bloggers. We each chose an area in our home to decorate for the holidays and I chose my mantel. Other than the Christmas tree, my outdoor urns (yet to be done!) and small festive touches here and there, the mantel is the only other area that gets dressed for the holidays. I don’t really like a lot of “stuff” around the house and I’m really from the less is more school of decorating.
This post is all about my shopping experience at Lowe’s and some of the products I chose. Here are a few photos I took of their winter garden centre where I spent most of my time while I was there on three separate visits.
I was so close to purchasing this white tree – so pretty! In the end, I realized it would be too much for my tiny family room. Focus Vanessa, focus.
So, then I saw these mini, real trees and thought they would be perfect. Until Cassy (see photo below) who works in the department (Burlington, ON store) and was a total joy, reminded me that you can’t water these because of the wood base and they really are for outdoors. Insert sad face emoji here. Aren’t they adorable though?
This photo is from my visit there yesterday with the lovely Cassy. She was extremely helpful!
Here are some of the items I am using mixed in with what I already have. Lots of greenery (western cedar garland and mini cypress and pine trees), pine cones and some glitter in the form of cones and pretty rose gold ornaments:
Deer | Rose Gold Ornaments | Glitter Cones
I will post the final photos/reveal later this week. Have a great week!

December 14, 2015I love the simplicity of your decorating. I’m taking the same approach with my holiday decor. Looking forward to seeing your finished mantle!
