Well here we are again. A reveal post for the eighth One Room Challenge I have participated in. I’m so happy to share my teenage daughter’s bathroom renovation with you. The incentive for me in joining in the ORC’s is that I have a completely finished and decorated space at the end in a very short time frame. Otherwise, I would still be in the decision making mode right now – wallpaper or pattern on the floor or shower curtain? That’s where I would be. It’s an affliction that affects most designers when it comes to their own homes. So, thank you Linda, the ORC creator, for dreaming up this concept for all of us who can’t make decisions when it comes to our own homes. 🙂 And the reason I wanted this done now is because my cousin from Australia is visiting this summer and will be staying with us for part of her visit. This will be her bathroom while here.
Anyway, in case you are new here and want to catch up, you can read my previous posts here:

Let’s see where we started. The only thing I changed when we moved into this home 1.5 years ago was the mirror:
And here is what we have today:
What a difference. Everything was changed except the vanity as it was fine but I had it spray painted Sherwin Williams Inkwell (a dark blue black) by the lovely folks at Paint it Like New. The counter is Fresh Concrete from Caesarstone in a honed finish, as opposed to a polish finish. I love its simple aesthetic. It has some markings consistent with what you would see in real concrete but doesn’t have a busy pattern.
The faucet is the Trinsic Single Handle High-Arc from Delta in their Champagne Bronze finish. I have loved this finish ever since they came out with it so I knew it would be perfect in M’s bathroom. It adds much needed glam to a utilitarian space. And since we did a Brizo (Delta’s luxury brand) matte black faucet and shower system in her former bathroom, it’s different and unique. The Delta brand has been around for 50 years and are known for their product innovation and technological solutions like faucets that turn on and off with a touch.
M can’t wait to use the shower (she has showered since this was done LOL) – we are just waiting for the contractor to caulk. The shower and tub trim kit is this one.
I usually love wallpaper in a bathroom but decided that we would have patterned tiles (floor and shower) and a vibrant shower curtain. You can see how it all comes together below. Both tiles are from Jeffrey Court available at the Home Depot.
The shower curtain is from Tonic Living and is this beautiful fabric. I debated which of the four colour ways to use but in the end thought that this coral one was a good contrast to the blue walls. One stop shopping for fabric and sewing delivered right to your door – can’t beat that. The paint colour is Benjamin Moore Lily White 2128-70 – the most beautiful ethereal shade of blue.
You can really see the beauty of the floor tiles in the photo below. It’s a little different than your typical black and white basket weave pattern – it feels more modern and crisp but so interesting.
All photos by Stephani Buchman Photography.
The door, window casing and baseboards are all from Metrie and is what I have in the entire house. I just love their simple and unfussy aesthetic. I already had both art pieces and they are from Minted.
So there you have it! Another ORC completed and I couldn’t love it more. Let me know if you have any questions and what you think in the comments.
You can see the reveals of the 20 featured bloggers here and the rest of the guest participants here. You know what I will be doing this weekend!
