The only change to the layout was to move the fridge to a small wall and relocate a range to where the fridge was.&#160; This leaves the island with just a sink \u2013 much preferable.&#160; Update with paint, new flooring, appliances, counter, backsplash and lighting \u2026 et voila!&#160; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TW1kAN6DP8I\/AAAAAAAAEG4\/xUJ7hDzyc5g\/s1600-h\/sarah101ep9A%5B4%5D.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"sarah101ep9A\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"728\" alt=\"sarah101ep9A\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAHoAAAB6CAQAAADaUI9vAAAAi0lEQVR42u3PAQEAAAABIP6fNkQ9qDlUaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWlpaWnpFwODAQB7gWIzIgAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==\" data-src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TW1kAmHFZLI\/AAAAAAAAEG8\/qDGQSUi0MHg\/sarah101ep9A_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"712\" border=\"0\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"sarah101ep9A\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"728\" alt=\"sarah101ep9A\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TW1kAmHFZLI\/AAAAAAAAEG8\/qDGQSUi0MHg\/sarah101ep9A_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"712\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tips from Sarah and Tommy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>figure out what mood you are going for.&#160; A colour scheme of fresh blues, creams and yellows transforms the space into a bright, happy place. <\/li>\n<li>the colour scheme is reflected in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forboflooringna.com\/default.aspx?menuid=855\">Marmoleum<\/a> floor tiles and the glass backsplash. <\/li>\n<li>paint the ceiling using 1\/3 of a colour used elsewhere in the space.&#160; In this case, the gorgeous robin\u2019s egg blue on the island is repeated on the ceiling.&#160; (My peninsula is painted a similar colour (BM Woodlawn blue) and I love it but may need to add some beadboard to it like they did here!) <\/li>\n<li>with all of this colour, keep your walls neutral <\/li>\n<li>hang your pendant lights 36\u201d above the counter <\/li>\n<li>raise a desk to counter height for one long run of counter and so that you can use the same counter height stools from the eating counter. <\/li>\n<li>purchase cabinet handles before you paint to determine whether you have to fill the holes . <\/li>\n<li>use graph paper to sketch out your tile pattern if using square tiles. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What else I loved about the design:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the chrome pendant lights and vintage industrial stools <\/li>\n<li>quartz counter (I tend to recommend over granite because of the low maintenance factor.) <\/li>\n<li>the round mirror reconfigured into a bulletin board with gorgeous fabric. This was my favourite part! <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overall, a brilliant outcome!
