{"id":1931,"date":"2010-12-22T06:38:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-22T06:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vanessafrancis.com\/staging\/blog-for-digs-my-childhood-bedroom\/"},"modified":"2010-12-22T06:38:00","modified_gmt":"2010-12-22T06:38:00","slug":"blog-for-digs-my-childhood-bedroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vanessafrancis.com\/staging\/2010\/12\/blog-for-digs-my-childhood-bedroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Blog for Digs: My Childhood Bedroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m happy to be participating in the Blog For Digs campaign organized by Claudia at <a href=\"http:\/\/claudiaclobes.com\/blog\/\">Stonehouse Love<\/a> to raise awareness for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dwellwithdignity.org\/\">Dwell with Dignity<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp; Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating comfortable homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TRGcjKbzsPI\/AAAAAAAADok\/NYl663ujSQw\/s1600-h\/image14.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" border=\"0\" height=\"504\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TRGcjs4RkUI\/AAAAAAAADoo\/YQ0Wa1ekffk\/image_thumb6.png?imgmax=800\" style=\"border-width: 0px; display: inline;\" title=\"image\" width=\"307\" \/><\/a> <br \/>Bloggers were asked to write about their childhood bedroom and it has been fun to read everyone\u2019s posts.&nbsp; It\u2019s interesting that no one has posted actual photos of their childhood bedroom.&nbsp; I don\u2019t have any photos either, nor do I have any clear memories. I had to rely on my Mom to fill in the details for me.<br \/>By the time I was 7, I had lived in three different countries.&nbsp;&nbsp; We came to Canada from England via Jamaica, each time leaving behind our possessions and starting new.&nbsp; I guess it was too expensive to ship everything.&nbsp; Our first house in Canada was a 3 bedroom bungalow.&nbsp; I shared a bedroom with my older sister and my younger sister had her own room.&nbsp; <br \/>Our bedroom had twin beds with white vinyl tufted headboards,&nbsp; a table in between and a white dresser.&nbsp; We had red and white floral comforters and red drapes. I do remember that it had parquet flooring. Sounds very Scandinavian and may be why red is an accent colour in my home today.<br \/>Even though I have absolutely no recollection of this room I do have warm and fuzzy memories of playing \u201cMovie Stars\u201d with my sister before we fell asleep.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TRGclO1e6qI\/AAAAAAAADos\/-keM9PlHQts\/s1600-h\/image18.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" border=\"0\" height=\"420\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <br \/>An updated red and white colour scheme via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.decorpad.com\/\">decorpad<\/a>.<br \/>I shared a bedroom until I was 12 when we moved into a two-storey, four bedroom house.&nbsp; Because of my Mom\u2019s love of wallpaper, no bedroom was left untouched.&nbsp; My wallpaper was a green and orange floral and the carpet was rust which was THE carpet colour of choice back in the 70\u2019s.&nbsp; The wallpaper was similar to this.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_Pp-4J9vThO8\/TRGcoJ6ForI\/AAAAAAAADo0\/PW2DIGfvKqs\/s1600-h\/wallpaper3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"wallpaper\" border=\"0\" height=\"428\"
