When we bought our house, it came with central vac. which I have never been a fan of. The long, heavy hoses are unwieldy to carry around, especially up and down a flight of stairs. I know some people love them. So, in this house I was using my old, upright vacuum with bags that you have to change but they can never be found in stores because said vacuum is so old. And then, the lovely folks at Dyson Canada contacted me to see if I wanted to try out their new Dyson Ball Animal 2<\/a> vacuum along with a friend\/family member.\u00a0 I don’t think I could have replied to that email any faster.<\/p>\n

You see, Ellie (our 4 month old Australian Labradoodle) came into our lives 2 months ago and with all the rain we have had these past few weeks, muddy paws are an everyday occurrence. Have you ever tried to wipe the paws of a puppy who thinks you are playing – impossible. So, I was resigned to the fact that there would be traces of mud and dirt throughout the house unless I cleaned the floors 24\/7.\u00a0 Isn’t she just the cutest though?\u00a0 Totally forgiven.<\/p>\n

I couldn’t wait to vacuum the area rug in our living room which is the only living space in the house and where we spend a lot of time. Ellie’s dog bed is usually right where the vacuum is in the photo below.\u00a0 I promise you that I do vacuum but look what came out of the rug after 5 minutes of vacuuming. Some of it is wool from the rug but most of it is dirt – yes all of that came from one 8×10 area rug! With Ellie, we also have been walking with our shoes on in the house more often as we take her in and out so this could have accounted for some of the dirt. I can’t believe our other vacuum missed all this dirt embedded in the carpet fibres.<\/p>\n

Now, if that doesn’t make you want to go out and buy this vacuum, I don’t know what will.\u00a0 The Dyson Ball Animal 2<\/a> claims to have the strongest suction of any other vacuum in Canada and I would have to agree 100%. #Dysonclean really is a thing. The box says ” Reconfigured bristles dig deeper into carpets to remove more dirt.”\u00a0 I’ll say.<\/p>\n

Avert your eyes…this is what we have been living with. My daughter has dust allergies and for the last little while she has had flu like symptoms but maybe it was just her allergies acting up. We shall see how she is going forward.<\/p>\n

The rug looked visibly cleaner. Both my daughter and I couldn’t believe it.\u00a0 If you have mostly carpet in your home, I definitely recommend this vacuum. Such a pleasure to look at and walk on now. The other area rugs in the house were vacuumed but not as much dirt came out as this one.<\/p>\n

Transitioning from carpet to hardwood is easy as it self adjusts. I had to attach the floor tool on my previous vacuum when cleaning the hardwood.<\/p>\n

These are all the tools that came in the box and I really can’t wait to try them all.<\/p>\n

I liked this tool for vacuuming near the kitchen cabinetry toe kick where all sorts of crumbs seem to gravitate.<\/p>\n

I found I could do all of the stairs with the stair tool as the wand and hose is almost 20′ long.\u00a0 No more juggling the upright on the stairs themselves. PS Not sure if this tool is for carpet only but it worked fine on my hardwood stairs.<\/p>\n

My sister also received a Dyson Ball Animal 2. Her review (in her own words):<\/p>\n

“Although we love our cat GiGi, we don’t love her fur covering our chairs and duvets. With the special fur attachment, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 picks up the fur quickly with no effort and gets every piece of fur out.\u00a0 Also, the first time we used the Dyson to vacuum our carpets, the amount of fur in the canister was incredible. We also like seeing\u00a0 exactly what we suck up. The previous vacuum did not do a great job at sucking up the fur, but we didn’t know until we used the Dyson.\u00a0 Love the fact that we can vacuum straight from hardwood to carpet with just a press of the button, not having to change attachments. The attachments attach easily and the cord wraps up nice and neat.\u00a0 The only complaint is that it is a little heavy. Definitely the best vacuum we have had so far and we have had quite a few.”<\/em>\"Vanessa

Both my sister and I have never owned a Dyson before, but knew of the brand and their stellar reputation.\u00a0 We are both very happy with the vacuum and wondered why we never invested in one earlier.<\/p>\n

I just noticed on the Dyson<\/a> website that the Ball Animal 2 is on sale and can be delivered free in 2 days. So, you can get your house all clean for guests on the long weekend. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
