I think most people would agree that the quality of the air that we breathe in daily is extremely important for themselves and their family. I’m no exception but what I didn’t know is that indoor air quality can be five times worse than outdoor air. Who wouldn’t want to have the cleanest air quality in their home? So, when the lovely folks at Dyson reached out to see if I wanted to review their Pure Hot+Cool Link<\/a>, I jumped at the chance.<\/p>\n

So, what’s in a name? The Pure Hot+Cool Link performs three tasks – it’s a cool fan in the warm months, a heater in the cool months and a year-round air purifier which removes 99.97% of harmful gasses, allergens and pollutants. The “link” refers to the fact that you can download the app and view and monitor live data on the air quality levels in your home right from your smartphone. To say that I have been obsessed with this over the past few weeks would be an understatement. I’ll share some data below.<\/p>\n

But let’s talk about its form first. I love the small size and its portability from room to room. And the sleek design with the black and nickel finish ensures that the Pure Hot+Cool Link will fit into any space in your home.\u00a0 The fact that it has no visible fan blades makes it safe and easy to clean.<\/p>\n

My daughter has airborne allergies to things like dust so we thought we would try it out in her bedroom first.\u00a0 I love how the remote control has a magnet and is stored on top and you can dim the LED display at night. Her bedroom is over the garage so isn’t heated well, so she loved being toasty at night now that the cold weather is officially here. (We actually kept it on the floor in a corner of her room rather than right beside her while she was sleeping. It heated the entire room fairly quickly and I was able to turn it off with the app while she was asleep.)<\/p>\n

I had read how the Pure Hot+Cool Link helped another blogger improve the quality of her sleep and I was anxious to try it out in my bedroom as I am a terrible sleeper. That’s due to a number of factors including the fact that in the warmer months, it is warm in my bedroom so I’m definitely looking forward to trying this out next summer. The air quality did improve according to the app but it’s too early to tell whether or not that had a direct effect on the quality and amount of my sleep.<\/p>\n

This is where the Pure Hot+Cool Link has stayed for most of the time and where it will probably reside. It looks right at home with my other decor accessories. Our puppy spends all her time in this space (1st floor living\/dining\/kitchen) and although she is non shedding, she does track mud and who knows what else into the house. She has also regressed on her potty training for some reason so taking those smells out of the house is a priority and I’m happy to report that has happened.<\/p>\n

I am currently renovating my basement and I can’t wait to move the\u00a0Pure Hot+Cool Link there when the reno is done this week. I am always mindful of specifying products that are non toxic and healthy like low VOC paint but trades aren’t generally thinking that way. For example, the underlay for my vinyl flooring has a terrible odour that permeated not only the basement but the entire first floor. I’m pretty sure it was made offshore and I’m not too happy about the off gassing. I’m hoping the Pure Hot+Cool Link will fix this issue and get the air quality back to normal fairly quickly.<\/p>\n

Below is actual data from the app on my cell which clearly shows the air quality improving from Poor to Good in my living room. You can see that I added my location in the last image which shows that the air quality in my town is Excellent. Hoping that with continued use that my indoor air quality will also be Excellent very soon. I’m guessing that the reno situation mentioned above has a lot to do with the Good rating. Once that is completely finished and all the drywall dust has settled, the air quality should improve.<\/p>\n
